"Well." Valentine sat cross-legged on his bed and studied the detention slip that he was assigned in today's Debating class. Granted, it meant that he would miss out on another potential hazy Saturday midmorning, but it wasn't about to stop him from spending his evening with Naminé, instead. "There are always Sundays."

It was absolutely worth it.

"Right?"

The Really Useful Book ruffled its page from across the room, thankful that its Saturday was bound to be a pleasantly calm one.

(For Naminé.)

It is Thursday morning. Apparently my brain fell into some sort of temporal rift and Wednesday only existed while I was at work. Now that it is Thursday and my timing is horrifically off, I shall draw the winner of the fairy icon contest this week. Because I am crazy punctual like that.

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] ltcolkirk! Keep an eye on your voicemail over the next few days!

I will so be on time next week. Totally.
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
It is Monday yet again!

Which means that it is time for me to put up another one of these fairy contest thingamabobs.

So! Any character who doesn't have an icon yet! I need hair references, clothing references, and probably a reference of your fairy as well!

I'll draw one name on Wednesday. And go!

After Picking Naminé up from work, Valentine led her to the beach.

Blanket? Check. Picnic basket? Check. Sand? Check. Girl?

He checked.

Check.

This was going to be a lovely evening.

(For the girlfriend!)

dark_slippy_thing: (Grin- dork)
Valentine took a seat on the floor and smiled at Naminé.

"So," he said, indicating that she join him on the floor (as floors are really quite comfortable places to be, honest), "let's take a look at that sketchbook of yours."

[For the girlfriend. Backdated due to extreme dual-wield availability suck. Or something.]

It is still Monday, wut? I was getting a tower so that I could be a very important man. No, really. It has 300 gigs of space and it is shiny and mine.

So! Fairy icon contest!

Enter here with any character who hasn't already gotten an icon, include references of the hair and clothing and any other important features, tell me what you'd like as a fairy, and on Wednesday, YOU might be the very important winner!

I'll draw two this week, as I have days off coming up. Oooo, aaaaah!

And go!

And this round is now closed!

Hey! The random number generator has spoken and a winner of the first fairy icon contest of the semester has been chosen!

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] savedfornow! Keep an eye on your voicemail, I'll dump your new icon there within the next couple of days. :)

I'll be putting up a new contest on Monday, keep an eye out, and thanks for participating. (I feel all shiny and flattered that people like these little goobers!)

Hi. My name is iBook (well, not really, but work with me here) and I am addicted to fairy icons.

*Enter the rest of the room saying, "Hiii, iBook."*

In fact, I am so addicted to fairy icons, that I've been shoving them up the noses of anyone who enters a shiny random contest that I hold every week and happens to win.

Well, I did until technology pulled a fast one on me, and two computers, a monitor and a half, my art tablet, a networking card, and a cat5 cable all decided they might like to rebel on me at once.

... We're still working with me, right?

The fact remains, you might not have a fairy icon for your character, BillyBobJimJoeSteveFredGeorgeNantucket the Fourth, Esq. And that is where my addiction to artistic freeware and love of random number generators kicks in.

Once again, now that I have a functional computer with a functional internet connection and another functional computer on the way because I am insane and big on spending more money than I am actually made of, I will be putting up my happy shiny sparkly fairy contests of doom every Monday, and drawing one winner on Wednesday, unless I'm feeling particularly ambitious that week and decide that I can handle two or three (it all depends on my work schedule, which has been clearing up nicely for this sort of stuff).

Rules! If you enter without reading them, the Really Useful Book will be sad. We don't want to make it moult its last page, do we? That would be mean.

What I need from anyone who enters is a reference picture that shows two things clearly enough that I might be able to BS my way through a very stylized little icon with no other discernible features- hairstyle, and a rough idea of what sort of clothing your character wears. Because the faces of these little things are practically all identical, hair and clothes are important, and if you win without showing me one or the other, I'll make it anyhow, but there will be much pulling out of my hair and gnashing of my teeth and your icon will probably wind up bearing a striking resemblance to Steve Urkel. Because I have that power.

Also needed from you is some idea of what you'd like as a fairy in your icon. Your fairy can be anything from a person they know to a dildo cozy, feel free to get creative- but again, if you get creative and don't leave me a reference, if I have no idea what that item looks like, you're going to be stuck with something that could potentially look like a brick of cheese with glittery wings.

Every Monday that I'm around, I'll put up a post like this one, where you can comment to enter your character into the draw. Only characters who haven't gotten an icon are eligible to win, but if you have more than one active character who needs to be drawn, feel free to spam me with references and object ideas for all of them, and if you win, I'll pick one for you.

Every Wednesday, I'll draw a name (or two, or twelve, we'll see how nuts I am at the time) and will announce the winner/s. It might take me a few months days to draw your icon. I've gotten better at getting them done quickly, now that technology doesn't hate me anymore.

So, Fandomites! It's a new semester, and it's a free-for-all once again. I won't draw the same characters again, but if you have characters that don't yet have icons, feel free to enter them!

And... Go!

THIS ROUND IS NOW CLOSED! :D

So, it had been a painfully long trek from the roof down to the second floor, but at least Valentine's lips had managed to sway his body into taking Namine away from the dance a little early and leaving his mind behind somewhere on the roof. It was all so much more interesting without his mind present, and he was somewhat certain that they had managed to ditch her mind as well.

Not that he was complaining at all as he closed the door behind them.

(For the girlfriend! I'm not sure where we're going to go with this, so read at your own discretion?)
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
Oh, look, there are fairy icons! Which are months overdue! But I have finished them, despite two computer crashes, a dead networking cable/card combo, one dead computer monitor, me falling through a computer desk, and my tablet sponteously combusting! And so here they are, with much blood sweat and tears (but not as many tablet-powered colour reselect options) for Steve, Johnny Storm, Jaina, and Aravis!

I'm sorry these were so late, guys.

I'm not sure if [livejournal.com profile] heterodine/mun is still in the game or not at the moment, but if you are, let me know and I'll make you an icon as well, as Agatha had won one, but I think is gone now?

All that said, I'll be starting the icon contests up again next Monday- keep an eye out if you'd like one. :) I'll do better this time, as I'm not planning on letting my laptop spontaneously combust as well. Yay, improved availability!

Computers? Dead. Again.

I'm expecting something of the brand-new persuasion sometime in early September.

In the meantime? Internet time will once again be limited to whatever I can sneak on my roomie's computer late in the evenings or while she's at work.

I think it's safe to say by now that computers hate me. But I have two towers and a monitor that make excellent paperweights.
dark_slippy_thing: (Tower)
So. My monitor, which is plugged in to all the necessary orifices required to make a monitor work, but has been suffering from a nasty purple spot up in one corner for a month now, decided this morning that it would just rather never turn on again. I do have a spare monitor (my own, actually. The one I was using was a hand-me-down), but in order for me to use it, I'll have to spend a good deal of time finding a place to put my tower, as this thing is huge and doesn't actually fit into the nook in my computer desk that is made to fit both monitor and tower together.

As I'm leaving for work shortly, obviously the time for completely reorganizing the Eastern corner of my bedroom is not right now. If I'm not completely flattened this evening after working with screaming hordes in a zoo gift shop and then hauling my bike up a steep hill that runs about four city blocks, the necessary arguments with my tower will occur tonight and it will take off to a destination currently unknown.

I'll apologise to mine sooner than Valentine did, I promise.

I should be online sometime early tomorrow afternoon, if all goes well. I think it is safe to say by this point that computers absolutely hate me, as tomorrow was supposed to be the day I make a foray into the great beyond to get myself a new tablet to replace the one that has been lit on fire, dropped on the floor, is missing the stylus holder, and whose stylus is broken in two places, no longer has a right-click function, and falls into three distinct parts whenever it sees fit.

At least I have the internet again.
dark_slippy_thing: (Hulloooo)
Valentine hadn't seen Namine about in a while and thought that perhaps it would be a god idea to check up on her. So, there he was, outside her door and knocking.

It was the thing to do.

(For Namine. Sorry about backdatedness- availability sucked.)
dark_slippy_thing: (Contact Juggling)
It was a nice evening.

No, really, it was. And that is why Valentine was standing on the beach, contemplating pebbles with little zigzag faces drawn onto them in pencil.

Okay, fine. He was juggling the pebbles. That's what jugglers do, after all.

And perhaps he was also kicking the sand into a pile so that it somewhat resembled a sandcastle. What of it?

(For Namine.)
dark_slippy_thing: (Net)
Alas, my computer seems to no longer want to access the internet for me, no matter how many wires I wiggle and switch around, so I'm inclined to think there's a software problem, not a wiring or hardware issue. After all, every other net connection in the house (That's three other computers, two PS3s, and an X-Box 360 and a partridge in a pear tree) is working fine and dandy.

Alas, my computer, running on Windows 98, didn't run practically any virus scan program that I could find, and so now I'm without the internet on it and have no means of scanning to see if I picked up a bug along the way.

SO. I'm going to be on borrowed computer access until either my computer decides it's going to work again, or until I make a bajillion dollars and can get a shiny NEW computer that will not throw up on my internets. This means that pings will be minimal most of the time, and Valentine, Lumiere, and Mikey will be a little scarce for a while.

Le sigh.
dark_slippy_thing: (RUB - Cover)
After Valentine's interesting attempt at making up for his last missed Mad Science class, he had retreated to his dorm room to ponder a career as a karaoke wedding singer. And, while the notion held its merits, however small they might have been, he ultimately decided to just stick with what he knew and work karaoke into his act somewhere down the road. He hadn't juggled since he got back, after all, and there was no better time than the present to pick it up again.

He dipped his hand into his pocket to grab a ball. )

(OOC: Open for slowplay if you want to meet Valentine's new pet/book, but I do leave in an hour for work, so this can just as easily sit about as an establishy post, too.)
dark_slippy_thing: (dot dot dot)
Valentine was up a tree without much of an idea how in the world he was going to get down, and it probably was not the best place in the world for him to be, but it certainly seemed to beat the prospect of being eaten in town.

It didn't make him any less hungry, though.

(For Naminé)
dark_slippy_thing: (Guilty lips)
Naminé...

Valentine weaved his way through the hallways of the dorms, dragging his feet up the steps to the fifth floor. On the fifth floor, there was someone who he had made a promise to. He was going to keep that promise. It had been too long. An eternity. A moment.

Lost again, broken and weary
Unable to find my way
Tail in hand, dizzy and clearly
Unable to just let this go...

He was hearing whispering again. He did his best to ignore it as he stopped in front of the door to room 515, taking in a slow breath-- he had always taken breathing for granted before, he realized.

He wasn't ready for this.

I choose to live...

He wasn't ready for this!

I choose to live...

He had made a promise.

I choose to live...

He raised a hand and knocked on the door, staring at it uneasily.

(For Naminé.)

(Establishy only! T'is the season to be songficcy? It was all ready to be posted on its own, but Radiohead's "In Limbo" had to be included in this. Oh, and hi! I'm back!)
