You know, I posted this up in my Mun-Journal days ago and it took until now for me to think that there are people here in FH who aren't on my FL over there who I would like to send cards to as well. So! If you'd like a Christmas/Holiday card from me, just surf on over here and leave a comment!

(I'm not making these from scratch myself, as a lot of people from my other FL seem to think, as that would be time consuming and expensive and insane. But if you'd like a quick doodle or something inside, you can let me know as well. I like to doodle.)
dark_slippy_thing: (Shadows)
There should be a "Whiskey Tango" in that title somewhere, too?

I'm all moved, and have been for a few days now, yay! Of course, because of fantastic lack of foresight on my part, just getting to and from work each day on Edmonton Transit takes a cumulative three hours there and back, and I have no internet at work. And I work evenings in Western Canada. So my availability is going to be supreme suck until I manage to find a job that doesn't involve walking fifteen blocks, taking a train, and then taking a bus to get to each day.

I'll ping in where I can with Valentine and Blackheart, of course, but days off are probably going to be the main extent of my roleplay opportunity for a couple of weeks.

'S getting figured out, honest!
dark_slippy_thing: (OOC)
So. I'm moving on the first of November, which of course means that I won't be around! Between working every day of the week _except_ that day and trying to finagle a vehicle out of people and being scheduled to work the last possible free day I had to pack, my brain will be liquid and my availability nil until Friday at least.

So! Valentine and Blackheart are joining Mikey on hiatus until I return. Mikey is still gone with his brothers and won't be returning until they do. Valentine is a chicken and Naminé has full modding rights until I return, and Blackheart will be hanging around Pixie Dust (with OOC permission from his faaaaaaabulous employer) and modding rights will go to Pixie Dust staff if they so choose to WTF at him while he's there and wee and fluffy and grumpy.

(Sorry I didn't get to do your icon before I left, Hoshi. I'll get it done as soon as I'm settled again.)

And now I fall off of the planet's face.
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
Seeing as I had one completed entry this week, [livejournal.com profile] itsjustlanguage wins this round of the fairy icon contest by default. Hoshi's story made me giggle, by the way. <3 All Hail Empress Hoshi!

That said, one valid entrant means that interest is obviously waning, and there's not much point running the contests if everyone willing to enter has done so. Therefore, I'm retiring my fairy icons from now until the end of time (I'll do commissions for money, but other than that, why bother? Seems silly to run contests if nobody is going to enter). It's been fun! Thanks for participating, guys. :)

Hoshi, keep an eye on your voicemail over the next few days, your icon should be done soon!
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
It is Tuesday.

Tuesday, which is decidedly not Monday, woe. I fail at being punctual with these things.

In my own defense, I was packing. Yes, I am moving at the end of the month, woo!

Which means that this is going to be the last Fairy Icon contest that I offer until I get settled in. And to keep my nerves from frying, I demand amusement this round for your entry to qualify, muwuahhahaha!

Yes, this time around, I not only need reference of your character's hair and clothing, and what they'd like as a fairy, but also, a short, silly story about what your character would do if they were to actually run into whatever your fairy of choice was, floating there in all its fairy glory.

Because I'm going to be taking such a long break and because I'm late putting this up omg, I'll extend the entry deadline to Friday.

There will be two winners this round, also. One icon will go to whoever the RNG likes the most, and the other will go to whoever's wee silly story makes me snort milk out my nose. Pending multiple wee silly stories of unadultered awesome, I might even make runner-up icons, because, seriously, these little things are my stress relief.

Okay! Reference, fairy, story! The deadline is Friday, and GO!

This round is now closed.
dark_slippy_thing: (An Idiot!)
No contest this week on account of the Canadian-Thanksgiving weekend swallowing my brain and leaving me a little behind with the winners from last week (sorry, you guys! I'll try to get those finished up for you, soon!).

I'll be back next week Monday with another shiny icon entry post, promise. Sorry I didn't get this post up sooner!
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
I fail at Wednesday. Ssh.

[livejournal.com profile] wannabe_pan and [livejournal.com profile] death_of_hope, congratulations, keep an eye on your voicemails over the next few days, as you've got a shiny fairy icon on the way, each of you.

The rest of you, thanks again for entering, and good luck next week!
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
Oh, it's Monday, too, isn't it?

Fairy contest!

This verse is same as the first- hair reference, clothes reference, only open to characters who don't yet have an icon, and let me know what your fairy of choice is.

A happy random number generator might love you on Wednesday, when I'll make the draw.

I'll pick either one or two this week, I'm not sure yet. We'll see if work smashes me into a wall or not between now and Wednesday. :)

And go!
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
It is Thursday morning. Apparently my brain fell into some sort of temporal rift and Wednesday only existed while I was at work. Now that it is Thursday and my timing is horrifically off, I shall draw the winner of the fairy icon contest this week. Because I am crazy punctual like that.

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] ltcolkirk! Keep an eye on your voicemail over the next few days!

I will so be on time next week. Totally.
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
It is Monday yet again!

Which means that it is time for me to put up another one of these fairy contest thingamabobs.

So! Any character who doesn't have an icon yet! I need hair references, clothing references, and probably a reference of your fairy as well!

I'll draw one name on Wednesday. And go!
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
Yarrr, it be still Wednesday in me own neck'o'th'woods, so I be no less than ten minutes under th'wire puttin' up the post with th' scalliwags what won me fairy icon contest this week.

The winners, they be [livejournal.com profile] bigbluekitty and [livejournal.com profile] montecito_east. Both of ye, be keepin yer eyes on yer voicemails fer yer swag in a couple'o'days.

Thank ye' all fer participatin'!
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
It is still Monday, wut? I was getting a tower so that I could be a very important man. No, really. It has 300 gigs of space and it is shiny and mine.

So! Fairy icon contest!

Enter here with any character who hasn't already gotten an icon, include references of the hair and clothing and any other important features, tell me what you'd like as a fairy, and on Wednesday, YOU might be the very important winner!

I'll draw two this week, as I have days off coming up. Oooo, aaaaah!

And go!

And this round is now closed!
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
Hey! The random number generator has spoken and a winner of the first fairy icon contest of the semester has been chosen!

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] savedfornow! Keep an eye on your voicemail, I'll dump your new icon there within the next couple of days. :)

I'll be putting up a new contest on Monday, keep an eye out, and thanks for participating. (I feel all shiny and flattered that people like these little goobers!)
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
Hi. My name is iBook (well, not really, but work with me here) and I am addicted to fairy icons.

*Enter the rest of the room saying, "Hiii, iBook."*

In fact, I am so addicted to fairy icons, that I've been shoving them up the noses of anyone who enters a shiny random contest that I hold every week and happens to win.

Well, I did until technology pulled a fast one on me, and two computers, a monitor and a half, my art tablet, a networking card, and a cat5 cable all decided they might like to rebel on me at once.

... We're still working with me, right?

The fact remains, you might not have a fairy icon for your character, BillyBobJimJoeSteveFredGeorgeNantucket the Fourth, Esq. And that is where my addiction to artistic freeware and love of random number generators kicks in.

Once again, now that I have a functional computer with a functional internet connection and another functional computer on the way because I am insane and big on spending more money than I am actually made of, I will be putting up my happy shiny sparkly fairy contests of doom every Monday, and drawing one winner on Wednesday, unless I'm feeling particularly ambitious that week and decide that I can handle two or three (it all depends on my work schedule, which has been clearing up nicely for this sort of stuff).

Rules! If you enter without reading them, the Really Useful Book will be sad. We don't want to make it moult its last page, do we? That would be mean.

What I need from anyone who enters is a reference picture that shows two things clearly enough that I might be able to BS my way through a very stylized little icon with no other discernible features- hairstyle, and a rough idea of what sort of clothing your character wears. Because the faces of these little things are practically all identical, hair and clothes are important, and if you win without showing me one or the other, I'll make it anyhow, but there will be much pulling out of my hair and gnashing of my teeth and your icon will probably wind up bearing a striking resemblance to Steve Urkel. Because I have that power.

Also needed from you is some idea of what you'd like as a fairy in your icon. Your fairy can be anything from a person they know to a dildo cozy, feel free to get creative- but again, if you get creative and don't leave me a reference, if I have no idea what that item looks like, you're going to be stuck with something that could potentially look like a brick of cheese with glittery wings.

Every Monday that I'm around, I'll put up a post like this one, where you can comment to enter your character into the draw. Only characters who haven't gotten an icon are eligible to win, but if you have more than one active character who needs to be drawn, feel free to spam me with references and object ideas for all of them, and if you win, I'll pick one for you.

Every Wednesday, I'll draw a name (or two, or twelve, we'll see how nuts I am at the time) and will announce the winner/s. It might take me a few months days to draw your icon. I've gotten better at getting them done quickly, now that technology doesn't hate me anymore.

So, Fandomites! It's a new semester, and it's a free-for-all once again. I won't draw the same characters again, but if you have characters that don't yet have icons, feel free to enter them!

And... Go!

THIS ROUND IS NOW CLOSED! :D
dark_slippy_thing: (Default)
Oh, look, there are fairy icons! Which are months overdue! But I have finished them, despite two computer crashes, a dead networking cable/card combo, one dead computer monitor, me falling through a computer desk, and my tablet sponteously combusting! And so here they are, with much blood sweat and tears (but not as many tablet-powered colour reselect options) for Steve, Johnny Storm, Jaina, and Aravis!

I'm sorry these were so late, guys.

I'm not sure if [livejournal.com profile] heterodine/mun is still in the game or not at the moment, but if you are, let me know and I'll make you an icon as well, as Agatha had won one, but I think is gone now?

All that said, I'll be starting the icon contests up again next Monday- keep an eye out if you'd like one. :) I'll do better this time, as I'm not planning on letting my laptop spontaneously combust as well. Yay, improved availability!

Computers? Dead. Again.

I'm expecting something of the brand-new persuasion sometime in early September.

In the meantime? Internet time will once again be limited to whatever I can sneak on my roomie's computer late in the evenings or while she's at work.

I think it's safe to say by now that computers hate me. But I have two towers and a monitor that make excellent paperweights.
dark_slippy_thing: (Tower)
So. My monitor, which is plugged in to all the necessary orifices required to make a monitor work, but has been suffering from a nasty purple spot up in one corner for a month now, decided this morning that it would just rather never turn on again. I do have a spare monitor (my own, actually. The one I was using was a hand-me-down), but in order for me to use it, I'll have to spend a good deal of time finding a place to put my tower, as this thing is huge and doesn't actually fit into the nook in my computer desk that is made to fit both monitor and tower together.

As I'm leaving for work shortly, obviously the time for completely reorganizing the Eastern corner of my bedroom is not right now. If I'm not completely flattened this evening after working with screaming hordes in a zoo gift shop and then hauling my bike up a steep hill that runs about four city blocks, the necessary arguments with my tower will occur tonight and it will take off to a destination currently unknown.

I'll apologise to mine sooner than Valentine did, I promise.

I should be online sometime early tomorrow afternoon, if all goes well. I think it is safe to say by this point that computers absolutely hate me, as tomorrow was supposed to be the day I make a foray into the great beyond to get myself a new tablet to replace the one that has been lit on fire, dropped on the floor, is missing the stylus holder, and whose stylus is broken in two places, no longer has a right-click function, and falls into three distinct parts whenever it sees fit.

At least I have the internet again.
dark_slippy_thing: (Net)
Alas, my computer seems to no longer want to access the internet for me, no matter how many wires I wiggle and switch around, so I'm inclined to think there's a software problem, not a wiring or hardware issue. After all, every other net connection in the house (That's three other computers, two PS3s, and an X-Box 360 and a partridge in a pear tree) is working fine and dandy.

Alas, my computer, running on Windows 98, didn't run practically any virus scan program that I could find, and so now I'm without the internet on it and have no means of scanning to see if I picked up a bug along the way.

SO. I'm going to be on borrowed computer access until either my computer decides it's going to work again, or until I make a bajillion dollars and can get a shiny NEW computer that will not throw up on my internets. This means that pings will be minimal most of the time, and Valentine, Lumiere, and Mikey will be a little scarce for a while.

Le sigh.
